Our Foundation

Rooted & Shaped by Scripture.

At Creekside Baptist Church, our beliefs are not opinions we've arrived at on our own. We believe that the inerrant Word of God is the only source for Biblical truth. The following represents the core doctrinal beliefs that shape our life and ministry at Creekside Baptist Church.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)

Core Doctrines

What We Believe

01

The Holy Scriptures

The Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God.

We believe the Bible was written by men moved and inspired by God. It is absolute truth without error and therefore the only complete and final revelation of God to man. Scripture is central to everything we do — sufficient, authoritative, and life-changing.

2 Tim. 3:16–17 · 2 Pet. 1:20–21 · Ps. 119:11

02

The True God

One God, eternally existing in three persons.

We believe there is one, and only one, living and true God. He is the Creator of heaven and earth, worthy of all honor and love, existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit .

Gen. 1:1 · Deut. 6:4 · Matt. 28:19 · John 1:1

03

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with the Father and the Son.

We believe the Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with God the Father, and God the Son and of the same nature. He restrains evil; He convicts of sin, of judgment, and of righteousness; He bears witness to the Truth of the Gospel in expository preaching and testimony; He is the agent in the New Birth; He seals, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies, and helps the believer.

John 14:16–17 · John 16:8–11 · Rom. 8:14–16

04

Satan

Satan is a real being, defeated at the cross and destined for eternal judgment.

We believe Satan was once holy and enjoyed a place in heaven, but through pride and ambition to be as God he fell and drew after him a host of angels. He is now the prince of the power of the air and the unholy god of this world. He is destined to final defeat at the hands of God's Son and to eternal judgment in hell, a place prepared for him and his angels.

Isa. 14:12–15 · Eph. 2:2 · Rev. 20:10

05

Creation

God created all things in six days, and man directly in His own image.

We believe in the Genesis account of creation, and that it is to be accepted literally, and not allegorically or figuratively; that man was created directly in God's own image and after His own likeness; that all creation was created by God in six literal days.

Gen. 1:1–31 · Gen. 2:7 · Col. 1:16

06

The Fall of Man

Man was created perfect but fell through sin, and all mankind stands in need of redemption.

We believe that man was created perfect by God, but by choice sinned and fell from his sinless and happy state. As a result all mankind are now sinners and are under condemnation without defense or excuse.

Gen. 3:1–19 · Rom. 3:23 · Rom. 5:12

07

The Virgin Birth

Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin.

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit in a miraculous manner, born of a virgin, and that He is both fully God and fully man — the eternal Son of God who took on human flesh for our salvation.

Isa. 7:14 · Matt. 1:18–23 · Luke 1:35 · John 1:14

08

Atonement for Sin

Christ's death fully satisfied the penalty for sin.

We believe that the salvation of sinners is by grace through faith in the Son of God, who freely took upon Himself our nature, yet without sin. By His death He made a full atonement and completely satisfied the penalty for our sin. He voluntarily substituted Himself in the sinner's place — the Just dying for the unjust, Christ the Lord bearing our sins in His own body on the tree.

Isa. 53:4–6 · Rom. 5:8 · 1 Pet. 2:24 · 2 Cor. 5:21

09

Salvation

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again. The new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus — instantaneous and not a process. In the new birth the sinner receives eternal life, the free gift from God. By God's grace, salvation is made free to all through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth but his own rejection of the gospel.

John 3:3–7 · Eph. 2:8–9 · Rom. 10:9–10 · John 10:28

10

The Local Church

A local church is an organized congregation of baptized believers.

We believe that a local church is an organized congregation of baptized believers associated by covenant of faith and fellowship in the gospel — worshiping God and observing the ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws. The one and only head of the church is Jesus Christ, and its true mission is the faithful witnessing of Christ to all men as we have opportunity.

Matt. 16:18 · Acts 2:41–42 · 1 Cor. 12:12–13

11

Baptism & The Lord's Supper

Two ordinances given by Christ to the church.

We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, to publicly testify our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior. The Lord's Supper commemorates together what Christ has done for us, preceded always by solemn self-examination.

Matt. 28:19 · Rom. 6:3–5 · 1 Cor. 11:23–26

12

Resurrection & Return of Christ

Christ rose bodily and will return personally and visibly in glory.

We believe that Christ rose bodily the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He ascended to the right hand of the throne of God. We believe in a Pre-Tribulation rapture of the church and the Pre-Millennial return of Christ. Christ shall reign a thousand years in righteousness until He has put all enemies under His feet.

Acts 1:11 · 1 Thess. 4:16–17 · Rev. 20:4–6 · Rev. 20:11–15

13

Missions

The Great Commission is the primary responsibility of the local church.

We believe the Great Commission given in Matthew 28 is the primary responsibility of the local church. Supporting missionaries to the uttermost parts of the world should be a priority — done through faithful giving and prayer. We are a church planted to reach New Braunfels and beyond with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Matt. 28:18–20 · Acts 1:8 · Rom. 10:14–15
